VOLUNTEER HOURS – 2021/2022

Welcome back, Nativity Warriors!  This year we are aiming to bring back many of the events, sports, and fundraisers that make our school such a wonderful place.  We can’t do that without your help!  At registration, each family pledged to do 25 hours of volunteer work during the school year (or make a donation of $500), and HSA wants to make sure everyone has plenty of opportunities.

This year, we’re enclosing a tracking sheet to help each family keep on top of their volunteer hours.  We’re asking each family to return the volunteer hours tracking sheet at the end of each trimester.  Information about an online opportunity to track hours is forthcoming.  Volunteer hours for this school year include any hours worked between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022.

What counts as “volunteer hours?”  Just about anything you can think of that benefits our school!  Coaching sports teams, being a room parent, lunchroom duty, helping to staff events and fundraiser, and chairing HSA committees all count toward volunteer hours.  Any family member can help out toward your family’s volunteer hours – parents, stepparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and high school or college-aged siblings are all welcome.  Volunteer opportunities are designed to accommodate many different schedules, talents, and time commitments.  There is truly something for everyone!

Not sure which volunteer opportunities are the best for your unique abilities and time commitments?  HSA is here to help!  In this folder, there is a schedule of events that will need volunteers, which includes some vacant committee chair positions that we’d love for you to fill.  Current committee chairs will be reaching out to the school community all throughout the school year asking for volunteers to help staff events, so make sure to watch your emails and monthly folders for more volunteer opportunities.

Why do we ask each family to commit to volunteer hours?  Getting involved at Nativity through volunteer service builds our school community.  It helps you meet Nativity families that you wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to know.  It gives your kids the opportunity to brag about the great things that their family members can do (trust us, the kids appreciate it even though they might not say it out loud!)  Our school community wouldn’t function without the generous volunteer commitments of our Nativity families.

Please feel free to reach out to any of the HSA chairs with questions about volunteer hours, or for help finding the best opportunities for your family.  With your support, we hope to make this school year the best one yet!

Your grateful HSA co-chairs,

Erin, Liz, and Kristina
