Joe DeMarco Basketball Tournament
The Joe DeMarco Basketball Tournament is the largest grammar school tournament in Western New York. JV and varsity teams from Catholic grammar schools around the area compete in an eight-day tournament named for and played in honor of Joe DeMarco, a beloved science teacher and basketball coach at Nativity who passed away in 2006.
The tournament is an exciting week-and-a-half of games for the participants and their families. Sixteen teams compete in a round robin format with the championship game held on the last Sunday. During the tournament, spectators enjoy the games, a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle, half-court shooting contest, and the concession stand while watching competitive youth basketball.
The 10th Annual Joe Demarco Basketball Tournament will be held January 24 – February 4, 2018. The championship game will be played Sunday, February 4th.

Supporting Nativity’s Athletics
In addition to being a wonderful experience for the teams and kids, the Joe DeMarco Basketball Tournament is critical to funding the athletics programs at Nativity. The money raised during the tournament in the past years has been put toward:
