Building Bridges
Mrs. Scott’s 3rd grade students have spent a few of their weekly STREAM lab times building suspension bridges. Students were given the challenge of creating the longest bridge they could that could also hold an item for longer than 10 seconds. Bridges were created, in groups, and made up of 50 straws and masking tape. Once the bridges were completed they were “suspended” between two lab stools.
The students were put into groups and then discussed ideas and created plans on how to build the bridge and also, assigned tasks to one-another so that all students participated equally.
