Enrichment Activities for All Ages and Interests

Nativity sponsors many after-school activities and clubs to educate and enrich the lives of our students. Some programs span the entire school year, while others may last only weeks. Nativity offers something for almost any interest.

While some activities are geared for the individual, most are aimed at groups. The idea of group involvement enhances communicative skills, team work, and the ability to effectively interact with both peers and adults.

Many of the clubs and activities allow the students to experience a wide range of opportunities, which they may not otherwise get in a more traditional setting. Students are encouraged to freely express their opinions and ideas while learning in an enjoyable environment.

Through the availability of the after-school activities and clubs, the students of Nativity gain more self-confidence, and become well-rounded individuals.

Here are some of the before and/or after-school programs Nativity offers:

  • Choir/Chorus/Band/Orchestra
  • Nativity Service Club
  • Quiz Bowl
  • Eighth Grade Lounge
  • Spanish Club
  • Boy Scouting
  • Girl Scouting
  • Ski Club
  • Nativity After School Care Program
  • Athletics

Nativity school Service Club, Ukraine Relief DayNativity Service Club
Nativity Service Club was created by a Nativity student in the Fall 2021 in response to the growing humanitarian challenge caused by the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and the subsequent evacuation of Afghans to the United States. The US government designated Buffalo an Afghan Evacuee resettlement location.Students meet once a week after school to discuss ideas and create friendship pins and stickers, which they sell at their pop up boutique during lunchtime. As of February 14, 2022, Students have raised over $800. That’s a lot of pins and stickers! All proceeds are donated to Buffalo United for Afghan Evacuees, a service organization comprised of Catholic Charities of Buffalo, the International Institute of Buffalo, Jericho Road Community Health Center, Jewish Family Services, and Journey’s End Refugee Services. Our students will be expanding their activities, donations, and awareness campaigns to other organizations and peoples in need, including the Down Syndrome Program at Oishei Children’s Hospital.

Nativity Quiz Bowl Club
Starting in the fall, students meet once a week to have snacks and play trivia games. January through March Nativity students face students from area public schools via Zoom in Quiz Bowl Matches. Quiz Bowl is open to all Junior High students. We are currently the smallest school in the league, but we have the largest team! Nativity kids are smart cookies!

8th Grade Lounge
Once a week, 8th graders are invited to the 8th grade lounge in our cozy library where they can meet before school to socialize, work on homework, listen to music, drink a cafe drink, and have a breakfast treat. It’s one of the many 8th grade privileges all young Nativity Warriors look forward to.

SPANISH CLUB
The Spanish Club is run by a local firm, “The Enrichment Company.”  Our own M. Kerwin is contracted to teach the lessons here at Nativity. The company provides the curriculum and all of the materials.
The program runs for six week segments, three times a year: Fall, Winter, and Spring.  It focuses on basic vocabulary like numbers, colors, parts of the body, verbs, and adjectives.  It is meant to be a fun introduction to the very basics of the language for children here in grades 1-5.  We meet on Tuesdays afterschool from 2:35-3:15.
